Monday, May 3, 2010: (Ralph Waldo Trine Quote: Miracles of Nature)

The miracles of nature do not seem miracles because they are so common. If no one had ever seen a flower, even a dandelion would be the most startling event in the world.

I'm just back from vacation in the mountains of West Virginia. Never realized I was so dependent on internet access. Found fascinating new flowers that I won't post here. However, killing time (as my husband searched the tree tops for birds) did give me the chance to examine dandelions.

Dandelions used to be my favorite flower as a child. As an adult, they were only attractive in large fields (not my yard). Without close-up photography, I might never have realized the beauty which I routinely look for in other wildflowers. How many other common-place wonders do I overlook?
