Tuesday, May 4, 2010: You Must Have Been a Sensitive Baby--Part Two

      From time to time, your child wakes up from a nightmare or night terror, upset over some horrible disaster, swearing the experience is more real than a regular dream. You think it sounds more like a nightmare, but you can't rule out the possibility of it being a prophetic dream, a clairvoyant vision, or past-life memory.  How do you handle the situation?

           I'll cover the psychic side of this problem in future journal entries.  Most of the time, regardless of whether children suffer from nightmares or traumatic visions, parents need to begin their help by acknowledging such an experience can be frightening. Reassure the child you will stay until they feel better. While the child is upset, don't bother evaluating where the fear comes from. Just give support. 

         Fear weakens anyone's aura. It makes one vulnerable to both negative images bubbling up from one's own psyche and to negative entities or vibrations coming in from other dimensions.  Help the child work his or her way back to confidence. Some children simply need to have the image replaced with something soothing or familiar. A favorite story or song may be all that's needed to send the child back to pleasant dreams.

        For some children it helps to talk out the event and play with clever ways to approach and handle similar events in the future. For dreams these can be fanciful images, such as going back into their next encounter with a dream-enhanced power sword to scare or destroy the enemy.  Some may prefer a magic wand to transform enemies into silly and harmless objects. There is great power in the belief that within inner worlds they can successfully face the danger themselves.

        Most children and indeed, most adults, think of the dream state as being helplessly carried along by events. Learning to create defenses within the dream state could be a first step in both lucid dreaming and in facing deeper inner fears.

         Not all children feel up to defending themselves. Some children may only feel protected when someone else takes action. Children may feel better knowing they could call on their guardian angel, Master, guru, or Lord while in the dream state. He or she does not have to see the spiritual protector first. These dream defenders are always available when the child calls on them.  

       A parent may also provide protection. Rituals to surround the child or room or house in white light, or to have a guardian spirit or deity wrap a cloak of protection around them, will help return the feeling of confidence and safety. Explain that you are doing this now in their behalf. Talk out your ritual. Let them know that inside each of us resides the power of self-protection and they will discover that power as they grow. Whether you are capable or not in actually providing a barrier of protection, if the child believes strongly that a barrier is in place, it will strengthen his or her aura. 

       With recurrent and intense nightmares or day visions, or for repeating patterns (such as attacks, being chased, suffering loss) it is important the next day, or certainly within the next week, to have a quiet talk. Let the child know that problems we don't face in the outer world sometimes reappear in symbolic dream form. Explore issues in their everyday life that may be frightening or frustrating them. Even with genuine astral attacks, remember that everyday fears will weaken the aura and invite future attacks.

       Any time one has a traumatic event in multidimensional realities (whether an adult or child), one should check one's outer life for any situation that is not being adequately addressed.  This should always be the first step before one gets wrapped up in an other-world explanation. Resolving everyday problems may stop negative images that arise from one's psyche. At the very least, it will allow the individual to deal with an other-world situation more objectively.  Regardless of where the event originates, it is the individual's responsibility to work through the problem and then find ways to apply the lesson to everyday life.
